Embassy Suites – Downey, CA
Modernize an outdated eight story hotel including the atrium, lobby, restaurant, lounge, ballrooms and interior pool, without guest displacement and within a 3-month schedule, under tight budget constraints. The new design was to conform to the ongoing reimaging of the brand, as well as strict mechanical, fire life safety and ADA codes. In addition, the ownership’s vision of increasing the ROI was to enhance usage by the local community.
The construction team worked closely with the operations team to always allow guests complete access to all available areas not under construction. The atrium was transformed from a 1980 vintage legacy Spanish scheme to a modern updated space theme. The breakfast buffets were relocated to allow multi-purpose usage. The lobby was transformed by adding decorative wall features, all new wall finishes, front desk enhancements, flooring, seating and a market which provides various food and gift products.
The restaurant/lounge that was originally designed as two separate entities was reconfigured into a combined space. Floors levels were modified and walls were relocated allowing easy access to each area and to meet assessable codes. The space received new flooring, ceilings, finishes and equipment.
